Local lad and friend of Macmillan FC manager, Robson O'Reardon, Tom Close sadly passed away in May 2015 at the young age of 20.

​

Tom was a pilot in the UK, flying regularly before moving to Naples, Florida in 2015 to fulfill his dream of becoming an airline pilot.

​

This match is played annually in his memory, to raise money for an aviation charity based in Gloucestershire called Fly2Help.

In May 2017, Tom's friends and family (including Robson) raised over £8,000 for the charity by cycling from Everton FC's stadium, Goodison Park, all the way to Luton Town FC's stadium, Kenilworth Road.
